🗳️ Election Update: New Local Endorsement!
Big news! We are excited to announce our endorsement of Dustin Lopez for Scotts Valley City Council! Dustin may be new to the political stage, but his enthusiasm for diverse housing options—like duplexes, apartments, and ADUs—makes him a fantastic fit for Scotts Valley, a city that really needs a housing boost. He’s also a strong advocate for better bike and pedestrian infrastructure, which will help create a more inclusive, sustainable community. We’re confident Dustin’s thoughtful approach and commitment to housing will bring fresh energy to the city!
đź’ˇ Curious about where we stand on local races and state propositions? Check out our local voter guide for more details!
At the state level, YIMBY Action supports YES on Prop 5 (giving local voters more power on housing and infrastructure issues) and NO on Prop 33. Check out the statewide voter guides here.
🏛️ Housing Legislation Becomes Law!
In case you missed it—Governor Newsom has signed dozens of housing bills into law during the 2023-2024 legislative cycle! These laws range from making it easier to build affordable housing and tackling homelessness to reforms that make housing development quicker and simpler. It’s a big step forward in California’s mission to combat the housing crisis, and we’re hopeful that these new measures will help increase housing availability and affordability for everyone. Stay tuned as these new laws roll out and start making a difference!

That’s all for now! As Election Day draws closer, there’s a lot of work to do—and we couldn’t do it without your continued support and energy. Whether you’re joining us for events, sharing the voter guide, or getting involved in the campaigns, we’re grateful to have you with us. Let’s keep pushing for a future where everyone has access to safe, affordable housing.
Stay tuned, and see you soon!
