Sacramento Update
There's a lot going on in Sacramento - many housing bills are making way through the Senate and Assembly. In July, some YIMBYs have been meeting with legislators, including our own State Senator Laird and Assemblymember Gail Pellerin to advocate for key housing bills affecting our area. If you are a YIMBY member, follow the #ca-legislation channel for more info on floor votes, amendments and more!
Also, look for Proposition 5 on your November ballot. It will lower voter approval requirements for local housing and infrastructure bonds. This constitutional amendment from the Legislature would make it easier for local governments to borrow money for affordable housing. (Vote YES!)
Coming Up
August is Membership Month! Santa Cruz YIMBY is planning another fun membership event - everyone that attends is eligible for membership and of course there will be swag. Watch for more details - members participate in endorsements, get access to all the gossip and updates via Slack, and more!
