Can't wait to see you all at our Summer BBQ on Sunday, August 11 from noon-3pm. We will be at Ocean View Park with delicious food (including veg options). Bring your favorite side or drinks to share. Play trivia, meet housing advocates and write postcards to local leaders for YIMBY swag and Volunteer Membership!
Election 2024
We are beginning our local endorsement process for the election this November (members, watch your emails for voting opportunities starting TODAY). Check out our Voting Guide for already endorsed candidates and watch for more!
August Housing Events
- ELECTION - Sunday, August 4th at 10am: Monica Martinez
Our endorsed candidate for 5th district Supervisor is hosting an election kickoff - meet at the Redwood Deck in downtown Felton (6237 Highway 9). https://www.martinezforsupervisor.com/ - CAPITOLA - Thursday, August 8th at 5PM: Capitola Planning Commission will consider recommendation to City Council for adoption of Housing Element. - SANTA CRUZ COUNTY - Tuesday, August 13th: Board of Supervisor's regular meeting may include SB 9 ordinance update and Ministerial Combined Zones. Check back here for the Agenda expected soon.
- CITY of SANTA CRUZ - Tuesday, August 13th: City Council regular meeting may include Downtown Plan Expansion. Check back here for the Agenda expected soon.
- CITY of SANTA CRUZ - Thursday, August 15th at 5:30pm: Virtual community meeting on upcoming proposed amendments to the City’s accessory dwelling unit (ADU) regulations. Zoom info here.

What a great turnout and lively discussion about The Leftmost City! Join our Book Club to get into the next book - fill out interest form here.
On July 31st, Lookout ad Housing Santa Cruz County brought State Senator Scott Wiener, Supervisor Manu Koenig and Councilmember Sandy Brown together to discuss "Can Santa Cruz control its housing destiny?" It's worth hearing from Senator Wiener more about why the state has taken action and what "local" control is all about. Watch the event (Facebook)
